Srila Prabhupada (1896-1977), was an extraordinary personality who dedicated his life for teaching the world about Krishna consciousness, ancient India's most noble message of spiritual wisdom. In 1965, at the age of 69, he sailed from India to New York to share Lord Krishna's message, on the order of his spiritual master Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura, representing a line of teachers dating back to Lord Krishna Himself.
ISKCON Chowpatty was envisioned and nurtured under the able guidance of HH Radhanath Swami, one of Srila Prabhupada's dear disciples.
A Humble Beginning...
Today, the Hare Krishna Satsang Group, Khopoli stands gracefully as a part of the southeastern region of the Navi Mumbai locale. However, its beginnings were simple and humble. The seed of the satsang program was planted by HG Nidhivan Das and Satish Pandit Prabhuji, under the guidance of HG Tarun Gauranga Das. The Trustees of Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir, Varachi Khopoli, kindly offered the temple premises to conduct a weekly program.
The Hare Krishna Satsang Group, Khopoli officially began its programs in October 2022, with more than 100 devotees attending the inaugural ceremony. This marked the fulfillment of a prophecy made by Srila Prabhupada. In 1986, HG Tarun Gauranga Das was born in Khopoli, and today he has been blessed with the opportunity to offer his seva in his birthplace by spreading Krishna consciousness. Truly, Lord Krishna fulfilled the desire of His pure devotee.
It became evident that the Yuga-avatar, Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, along with Lord Nityananda Prabhu, had mercifully manifested Their presence in the Khopoli area. The beautiful weekly program structure we witness today is the result of the sincere efforts, dedication, and tireless service of many devotees.
These devotees have worked selflessly to realize the vision of H.H. Radhanath Swami Maharaj, who steadfastly follows the instructions and teachings of Srila Prabhupada. Thus, what began as a simple temple hall has now transformed into a beautiful spiritual home for Their Lordships in Khopoli.
